TESTIMONIALS

  • 02/22/10 - Mr. Tim Hollembaek, HTAI Mini-Seminar Spokane participant
    • PG, thanks so much for being part of the birthday celebration of Lotus Self-Defense.  Your seminar was truly an eye-opener for me and fits so well into my art that I will just have to get more training from you.  Your passion, humility and obvious dedication to FMA make you a role model for us all.  It was a pleasure to reconnect with you after all these years!
  • 01/31/10 - Gwyn (and Duncan) Stobie, 2010 KNIFE DEFENSE Seminar participant
    • I wanted to take a moment and again thank you for training us yesterday.  I really appreciate your training style, how you could speak to many levels, and your patience.  My son also enjoyed the experience very much, even with his mother in the same room!  I know it would take many many hours for me to become proficient in the most basic sense, but what I've learned will help me to have options if needed, and that's always a good thing.
  • 11/24/09 - Senior Guro Paul Quinn, 2009 HTAI Fall Camp, HTAI Instructor
    • This weekend was flippin' AWESOME!  I am so stoked about how many people were there (35) and the quality of students.  Great attitudes from everyone.  I was especially proud of our guys who not only had a great time but stepped up and helped others.  They were fantastic examples and really showed what HTAI is all about.  PG you did a great job linking all the drills together and showing the relations/applications of stick, knife and sword in similar techniques. That really helped people to make connections and open their eyes to what HTAI is capable of without overwhelming them.  Maraming Salamat Po.
  • 11/23/09 - Ron Schutz, 2009 HTAI Fall Camp Participant, HTAI Spokane Student
    • PG, first thank you and your family for the great training, hospitality and the fun time this past weekend.  It was a fabulous training opportunity and it is greatly appreciated.
  • 11/23/09 - Lance Lu, 2009 HTAI Fall Camp Participant, Tai Chi practitioner
    • Dear PG Hufana, I want to thank you again for providing me with a good introduction to the Filipino martial arts, and to your family art in particular.  I enjoyed the seminar very much.  As a complete beginner, and coming from Yang style tai chi, my mind was over loaded trying to learn all the new techniques and concepts, but everyone was so nice and supportive to me, and for that, I felt very welcome and grateful.
  • 09/04/09 - Konstantin Isayev, Seminar Participant & HTAI Spokane Student
    • Hello Sir, I just want to say, thank you for your patience.  I feel very fortunate to be studying under you.  I look forward to seeing you again at the seminar!  You truly are a master and a great teacher!  Thank you, Sir. Respectfully, Konstantin
  • 11/19/08 - Kevin Corbett, Seminar Participant (HTAI Fall Camp 2008)
    •   A quick note to say "Thank You!" for an outstanding camp!  I continue to be impressed by you as a person, your expertise and kindness.  I especially appreciate the respect and consideration you demonstrate to your students and guests, like myself.  I look forward to more camps and instruction in the Spring.  Respectfully, Kevin Corbett
  • 12/28/05 - Connie Anastasi, Parent (Bellevue, Washington)
    • My family has been with Master Hufana for 10 years.  We now have 3 black belts.  Vincent is the most recent one to get his black belt in December 2005.  The values, morals and discipline that have been instilled in all 3 boys from their training and friendships are invaluable.  We have been through many changes with the Academy, moving to a new location and changes in students and instructors, but the core values still remain, discipline and self respect.  The Tae Kwon Do training has helped my children be more self-assured.  Having trained and tested for their black belts has proven to them that they can succeed in tough situations and have the stamina to keep going even when your body feels like it wants to give up - your mind stays clear to the end of task.  I could not have asked for a better place for my kids to be or a more committed instructor for them.  Master Hufana and his family are more than just Tae Kwon Do instructors, they care about the kids and their success in all aspects of their lives (school, home, family and friends).  This is a family!
  • Teresa Tolonen, Parent (Bellevue, Washington)
    • Amy began Tae Kwon Do instructions in February of 2003.  At the time she began, she was full of energy and in desparate need of structure and self discipline.  During the next few months watching her, it was my belief that she was not teachable and she would continue to be a control problem.  Master Hufana continued telling me to have patience.  She has now been doing Tae Kwon Do for five years and I am amazed at the self discipline and self control improvement she continues to show.  She has advanced herself to a high green belt.  Amy looks forward to going to classes and has not once indicated she wants to quit.  She has in fact placed goals on herself to be a Black Belt by the time she is 12 years old and then at 13 years old she wants to begin Arnis training.  I can not say enough for the school and instructors who have given Amy the tools to help her become a better person, not to mention the self-defense toos.
  • Senior Guro Dave DeVore, Arnis Student & Instructor (Issaquah, Washington)
    • Having been a student of Punong Guro Hufana’s for the past 10 years I must admit that I have a biased opinion.  I not only consider him a mentor and a fantastic instructor, he is what I’d consider “the real deal” in regards to his combative FMA style.  PG Hufana is much more than this though, he is also family and a close friend.  PG Hufana is open minded and does what he says, propagates the Filipino Martial Arts.  PG Hufana dreamed of creating a forum for Filipino Martial Artists to be exposed and to learn from many different Masters and Grandmasters of the FMA.  PG Hufana has created the World Filipino Martial Arts Association (www.Worldfma.com).  PG Hufana has surrounded himself and his students with many of the world’s foremost instructors of the FMA.  His willingness to share his art as well as that of the other top instructors is refreshing and always exciting.  I have not missed one of his FMA Expos.  I have been a career law enforcement officer for the past 22 years.  Over that time I have taken many different styles of training (Karate, Aikido, Police Defensive Tactics, and Submission Wrestling).  I found the Filipino Martial Arts to be job specific for me.  Many of the things I’ve learned over the years with PG Hufana have come to light in many altercations I’ve had on the streets that I patrol.  One of my main goals in training in the FMA is so I am able to go home to my family at night after my patrol shift ends.  Training with PG Hufana has kept me safe and able to do this year after year.   I was fortunate to accompany PG Hufana on his recent trip to the Philippines.  PG Hufana teaches not only the “art” but the customs, traditions, language, and etiquette of the Filipino people.  I was present when many of the Masters and Grandmasters congratulated PG Hufana on his students and their “combative ways” as well as their traditional mannerisms and the respect they show to everyone.  It made me very proud to be a part of the Hufana Traditional Arnis International team.  Because of the positive influence PG Hufana has had on me and my family I now have my 7 year old son enrolled in his Tae Kwon Do program.  My son is learning patience and respect in class.  PG Hufana, along with his kids (Michael and Lizelle), do a fantastic job of working with all different types of kids.  I am truly amazed at the patience and commitment they have to assist all the children in their classes.  This does not end with the Tae Kwon Do classes either; they stress the importance of succeeding in all aspects of life.  Our family will continue to support and attend the Academy’s training for many years to come. Maraming Salamat Po PG!  Bubba  (“Thank you very much” in Tagalog)
